A modern portrait of Barbara Radziwiłł: would she be a megastar today?
Žmonės.lt writes about a project of the Palace of the Grand Dukes museum for Barbara Radziwiłł’s 500th birthday – a contemporary portrait of her. Barbara was played by historian and museum educator Neda Marcinkonytė, the costume was created by designer Julija Janus and the photographs were taken by Vita Kučinskienė. Janus “translated” the Renaissance costume into today’s language of fashion and chose a white plaster shade so that only the silhouette speaks.
“Today Barbara Radziwiłł would look to us like an eccentric hip-hop star. But that is what she was – the megastar of Vilnius.”
