Vilnius tours follow the trail of royal love

In history textbooks, we mostly read dry facts: dates, causes, consequences. In this way, the people who lived in the past are, as it were, depersonalised. Their merits and mistakes are discussed, but their feelings, inner dramas and relationships are forgotten. And naturally, there were all kinds of emotions. The love story of Barbora Radvilaitė and Sigismund Augustus is a perfect example, full of controversy, mystery, romance and the overwhelming power of strong feelings.

The story of a royal love affair that took place in the 16th century—a true and Nordic-lyrical tale—is the defining feature of Vilnius’s Old Town. It was this story, along with Vilnius’s royal golden age and the most interesting gifts from Lithuania, that inspired the creation of the startup „Slapta meilė.“.
