Catherine Jagiellon and John III Vasa
Catherine Jagiellon and John III Vasa were imprisoned in Gripsholm Castle due to complex political intrigues and wars. Instead of breaking them, the prison walls only strengthened their bond and love for each other. It was in captivity that their children were born, and Catherine adorned her wedding ring with an inscription stating that only death would separate them.
